Bourbon whiskey is produced under the strictly controled regulartions. Bourbon is the only whiskey where adding colour or flavour is illegal.
Many Bourbon is labeled "Kentucky Straight Bourbon," indicating that it is made from at least 51% corn and aged minimun of two years in charred oak barrels and produced in Kentukcy.
At the Maker's Mark distillery, distillery tour visitors can dip the bottles with the famous red wax. Maker's Mark has done a significant marketing building a strong brand awareness by using the symbole of this red wax seal.
"It was my mum's idea. Mum and Dad were truely 50% partners in business," says Bill Samuels, the President of Maker's Mark. Maker's Mark claims that the every step of their production is hand-crafted including bottle-dipping process.
