Excitement and Great Money

Why do students spend more than a couple hundreds of dollars to become a bartender? What do they see in bartending career? "Exciting and great money!", says one of the students attending at the ABC Bartending School.

The answer is direct and honest, but let's no forget the facts of tending a bar: workng at night while others are having fun, dealing with intoxicated people in smoky crowded room middle of the night - that's bartending also.

"It's exciting to meet different types of people. I like making drinks and meeting people." She is a 21-year-old single monther. While she is in the class, her parents take care of her baby girl. She explained, "My parents don't like the idea of me taking this class." She is willing to host private parties after graduating.

A 19-year-old college student, "I hate my current job at the local pizza restaurant. It doesn't pay much and it's not as fun as bartending either." She is also willing to earn college money by bartending. "Bartending is great money."

So may I ask, "How much is enough?" $400.00 USD working 2 to 3 nights a week would be enough, she says.

A 40-year-old convenient store owner wants to become a full time bartender. Her 19-year-old daughter however isn't happey about her monther becoming a bartender. "Her father was an alcoholic and she never drinks either. So she doesn't like the idea of me going to a bartending school getting involved in an alcohol related business."

"...she understands though. She wants to see me happy, because she hasn't seen me happy for a long time. This is a huge chance for me to be happy again." She expects to earn at least a thousand dollars a week from her future bartending career.

"Money isn't everything," says one of the instructors at the school. Mick agrees, "People come to see me and it's about socializing. I used to be a car sales man. A moment after they saw me, they hated me just because I was a sales man. But now they don't hate me. They enjoy seeing me."

Choosing a right career can be difficult. Sometimes personal preference or career objectives do not match a financial goal. Sometimes your career may hurt people around you. Bartending comes with some downsides and excitements like any other jobs. Late night shift and rude customers seem to be covered by the other benefits of being a bartender, such as socializing, enjoyment of making cocktails, and great potential in making a good money.

Bartending school may teach you the basic techniques and help you getting a first job. But the rest is up to you. Coming to a bartending school would at least give students the opportunity to experience being a bartender. If you decide not to become a bartender after all, you can still use your skills to entertain your family or friends at home.
