Human body needs salt. Salt helps digest food and helps operate your heart beat. The key to use salt is in moderation (like with alcohol!) Most commonly used salt is table salt, which comes from slat mines. They are available either plain or iodized.
Kosher salt is often used by professional chefs and bartenders because of free additives. Kosher salts come in flakes, which dissolve easily in water. Choose a salt that has a great crunch but which dissolves extreamly quickly in liquid such as the Australian Murray River Salt Flakes, says Rob Seideman from Salt Traders that sells hand-harvested natural salts from around the world.
Sea salt comes directly from the sea, processed through boiling water or evaporation. Sea salt may contain minerals including calcium, potassium, iron and zinc. Most common sea salt comes from the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea.
